We started the morning meeting at 7:45AM in front of the bridge/store after our breakfast at 7:00AM. Today’s work was solely focused around working on the bioswale, which we made great progress on. We picked up off yesterday’s work and continued to fill the bioswale with rocks; at one point, we didn’t have enough, so we went to a local river to pick up more rocks to finish that portion. There was lots of gorgeous wildlife like butterflies, dragonflies, different cows along the river bank, and others. We had an “assembly line” setup to pass the rocks along, and now we’re just in the final stages of finishing the bioswale; we just need plants and a final layer of rocks, and that task will be completed.

Our lunch was a chicken salad and pasta which was amazing, all the home cooked meals have been perfect and we’ve been able to finish every single meal with ease.

At 2:30PM, the town was having a town wide bingo game which was really interesting to experience. The community hall was fully packed with the whole town waiting to play and win their prizes. The game ended up going for 4 hours which was really tiring, but I knew I wouldn’t have a chance to experience something like that again, so I played the entire time. Gabby and Ibeth ended up winning a bottle of Captain Morgan and a restaurant gift card, which they gave to their host families as gifts.

Since the game went till 6:30PM, we ended up having a late dinner around 7:30PM consisting of seasoned and cooked chayote, lentil soup, rice, and tortillas with lemonade. We had a long day so we showered after dinner and went to bed really soon after, around 10:00PM. Even though I was exhausted and the work was hard, I am always excited to wake up the next morning and start again.
