This morning I had cereal with mini pancakes and some coffee. Soon after I headed over to the community center where we get picked up. Today was my first time working at the biofabrica where I continued digging a trench the previous group started. After about an hour and a half the group up there headed down to the biojardinera to help out the rest of the group. There we sorted the rocks we collected on Sunday. I had the chance glue, saw and drill some PVC pipes

We ended work early because we had a lecture at 1pm. Around 11 am we headed to our home stays to have lunch. At mine Teresita made us some gallo pinto and smashed fried veggies with some pineapple fresco. At 1 we headed town to the Tami Lodge where Marino Protti, a professor from the National University of Costa Rica, gave us a presentation on 1seismology. He told us about how Costa Rica is one of the most important places to study because of how active it is. Researches can see different types of movement within a small area. Something that really stood out was that he wrote his thesis for his Master’s Degree on why Costa Rica should be a part of the Antarctic Treaty and in his thesis he wrote a bill which was proposed to congress and passed!

After the professors presentation we hung out at the Tami Lodge and got to listen in on Chris Adam’s presentation, a teacher at Candor College. A college in Canada who, like Cabrillo, has developed a relationship with Providencia. Then we got to meet the students from Canador.

Around 5 pm we went to check out last year’s biojardinera. While we were there Natalie suggested collecting water before and after the biojardinera to see how well it filters.

We then went back to our home stays. I got to play a few rounds of Rummy before dinner where I finally won. For dinner we had a bean soup with some avocado and an egg. For our drink Teresita gave us a strawberry smoothie. After dinner we played a few more games.
