I woke up early with the same sore feeling on my lower back. I stretched out to ease it away. On a sunny morning, Omar and I walked to the host family’s house where Autumn, Ibeth and Natalie were staying to have breakfast since our host family was out of town for the day. The breakfast we had was surprisingly to me the same as yesterday. We had empanadas, which are tortillas folded and cooked with beans or cheese inside. They are so good I feel like I could eat them all morning. I also don’t want to forget to mention the sweet tea. That was good too.

For today’s service, we were assigned to work completely on the bioswale. We were split into two groups. One group for digging the hole further and the other for collecting rocks. I was in the group for collecting rocks. The Young Dreamers group was with us as well. We did three trips transporting rocks. It was wild going back and forth. Transporting the rocks to the bioswale was rough and bumpy because we had to sit or stand on them riding on the back of the pickup truck. During the trips in and out of Providencia, we saw a lot of wild cows, bulls and dogs.

After a few hours of hard work, we went back to have a rushed lunch with our host families to continue our next activity. Which was making bracelets by scratch. I was a bit frustrated at first because I’ve never made one by small strings and I usually don’t like working with small items. However the further I progressed, I got better at lacing the strings and finished my bracelet. After achieving that, I was proud of myself for trying something new.

On the way back after the bracelet activity, we stopped by the El Poceron waterfall. Omar spotted a small frog on the giant rock which immediately got everyone’s attention. It jumped on Natalie’s arm, then Elian’s hat which was pretty funny. Then we had to leave it alone so it wouldn’t feel disturbed. Once it started raining we had to leave to our home stays.

After a short break and giving myself a quick shower, I was unexpectedly invited by the gang to play some games at Natalie, Autumn and Ibeth’s home stay. After that, Omar and I returned back at our home stay while it started to rain harder. Before we could have dinner, I witnessed several lightning strikes outside the window. I was not expecting the weather to change so drastically from sunny to stormy. Even after dinner and during bedtime, I could still see the lightning strikes happen occasionally.
